31 Werewolves | Oz

Geek Confession: I have never seen the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's on my very long list of things to correct, but it hasn't happened yet.

I still feel like Oz is kind of an important werewolf though - and hey, Seth Green - so I'm including him. You tell me though: Does he belong here? What do you think about him?

I watched almost all of the first season last year and wanted to do the whole series, but life got in the way. Maybe after October, I will go back in!

Ah geek confessions. I remember you introducing me to this term about a year ago were I mentioned having never seen the 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Something I've corrected since.

Oz is a great character in the midst of the serious. Despite being a werewolf he doesn't have any of the neuroses or anxieties that plague the rest of the cast. He's very laid back and clam about the most unbelievably scary things. Just picture a very charming version of Keanu Reeves and thats Oz in a nutshell.

Another great aspect of his character that he was in a band (complete with van!) so he was one of "the cool kids", but only ever had eyes for the waifish wallflower Willow. There was a very sweet "I can't believe a guy like you would notice someone like me" kind of relationship. Sadly this came to abrupt end when Seth Green needed to leave the series for his film obligations.

Being a werewolf was actually the weakest part of Oz's character. He only transformed on average once per season and at no point did the costume ever look good. Giving the suit a tail that just flopped around while he ran was just adding insult to injury.

Oz was a great character and Seth was great as him. However, he wasn't utilized enough. And yes, he wasn't wolfing out very much either. However, the handful of episodes revolving around his transformation were actually, I thought, really good episodes.

The show missed him when he left.
